sooo i had the opportunity to see birds of wales play a CMW set last night at the black betty in toronto..


this was an adventure. first off, the address of the venue is listed at 225 richmond st. west.... when you get to 225, there is a parking lot where a building should be... it goes 223, then 227. yeah. sooo after wandering up and down the street 4 times looking for this place, my friend and i get the brilliant idea to use google on my phone to google the place for a phone number. get that and call... apparently we were right beside it... in an ally that comes off the parking lot, up a fire escape and around another corner later, we finally find where we need to be.

its a pretty cool environment... warm, inviting. the only obnoxious part being the disco ball that is making me dizzy from all the flashing.

so birds get on the stage to play their set. honestly, it could have been the worst i have ever seen. (which still isnt bad) HOWEVER, it really wasn't their fault.... the sound was terrible... morgans mic wasnt working properly, and all the instrument levels were set WAAAAY too high.

on a good note, the place was jam packed full of people (again, not difficult considering how small the venue was, but a good sign cuz they managed to FIND the place...)


aaanywho, even though it was a rather intimate show, not one of the best. i still have my favorite =)


thats the only CMW showcase i was able to make it out for... was going to check out illscarlett tonight, but went to see watchmen instead! haha.
