The bad news . . .

Celine Dion - 6 nominations - groan
Michael Buble - 5 nominations - yawn
Avril Lavigne - 5 nominations - like, so whatever
Feist - 5 nominations - okay now, that's more like it

The good news (for me, at any rate): Pretty much all of my favourite Canadian albums/artists from 2007 got nominated for something. So I'm happy. smile.gif

(And the really good news . . . no Nickleblech!)

Hi Laurie!! biggrin.gif
I didn't watch - I was in Toronto and I had completely forgotten the nominations were yesterday rolleyes.gif

laugh.gif I love your descriptions

I'm cranky today dry.gif we've got another storm in the whole greater Toronto area and I'm not sure that I'll be able to get into the city tonight to see One Republic at the Mod Club.

I could write a whole page filled with rants, but I'll just vent a wee bit. Maybe that'll make me feel a bit better tongue.gif

Celine Dion. All I will say is your GROAN is being very very generous and kind.

Avril Lavigne. "Make me wanna drop
It's so ridiculous
I can barely stop
I can hardly breathe
You make me wanna scream
You're so fabulous
You're so good to me baby, baby"
I think that just about sums it up - my apologies for making you all read that.

Nickelblech laugh.gif yep that's what I'm going to call them from now on. But Celine Dion up there kind of makes me miss them a bit. dry.gif Meow.

There are a few bright spots, particularly the New Artist and New Group of the Year categories again this year. Enough to make me want to watch? I doubt it.

Have a great day, everyone smile.gif

For me, the Junos this year are going to be fantastic. On the condition that Avril or Celine don't sweep because there are some amazing noms this year.

And I'm posting my picks.

ADULT ALTERNATIVE ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Rufus Wainwright RELEASE THE STARS

ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Feist THE REMINDER

ALTERNATIVE ALBUM OF THE YEAR

OMGosh what a category!!!!!
Seriously, I'd be thrilled if any of them but Holy F*ck won:
But I think these two tie as best in my book -
Tegan and Sara THE CON
&
Patrick Watson CLOSE TO PARADISE

ARTIST OF THE YEAR
Feist
(I will scream if Avril or Celine get this.)

CHILDREN'S ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Windsor Symphony Orchestra PROKOFIEV: PETER AND THE WOLF
I'm from Windsor and saw the WSO perform this as a kid. A win for this would be cool.

DANCE RECORDING OF THE YEAR
Chromeo FANCY FOOTWORK

GROUP OF THE YEAR

Ok, I am going mainstream here and saying:
Finger Eleven
Usually not my bag, but I really loved them this year.

INTERNATIONAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR
What a CRAPTASTIC set of noms. Eww.
I have to go with the only one I like:
Timbaland TIMBALAND PRESENTS SHOCK VALUE
The others make me want to bash my own head in. LOL

JUNO FAN CHOICE AWARD (PRESENTED BY DORITOS)
I will be out of the room when they announce this award.
Now I won't groan too loudly from the kitchen if it's Buble but otherwise, spare me.

NEW ARTIST OF THE YEAR
Serena Ryder

But I like Fisher and McNeil.

NEW GROUP OF THE YEAR
Wintersleep

But those boys in Faber Drive are fun live.

POP ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Feist THE REMINDER
or
Bedouin Soundclash STREET GOSPELS

R&B/SOUL RECORDING OF THE YEAR
Jully Black REVIVAL

ROCK ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Finger Eleven THEM VS. YOU VS. ME seems more rock to me than
Matthew Good HOSPITAL MUSIC but I love both of these albums.

ROOTS & TRADITIONAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR: GROUP
The Sadies NEW SEASONS

ROOTS & TRADITIONAL ALBUM OF THE YEAR: SOLO
Jill Barber FOR ALL TIME

SINGLE OF THE YEAR
Feist 1234
or
Finger Eleven PARALYZER
and honestly, I think I'm rooting for more Paralyzer. That song is addictive.

SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR
I honestly cannot believe Avril is up against the fabulous Rufus Wainwright.
If she wins this somehow..........I can't even think of that....
Rufus is my boy.
Going to a Town alone SHOULD win him this category. Best song of the year.
Rufus Wainwright “GOING TO A TOWN” | “RELEASE THE STARS” | “DO I DISAPPOINT YOU”

VOCAL JAZZ ALBUM OF THE YEAR
Holly Cole HOLLY COLE
